About
Publishing Trends
Publishing Trends
is a monthly newsletter featuring news and opinion on
the changing world of book publishing. Published by the
industry veterans of Market
Partners International, Publishing Trends is designed to fill in the gaps in the existing trade
press with the story behind the story—changes in
the executive landscape, deals, events, and gossip, and
what the industry really thinks about the book marketplace,
the publishing infrastructure, technological innovation,
and the multifaceted universe of the book.
Since its inception in Fall 1994, Publishing Trends
has continued to cover a wide range of topics, bringing
an informed and candid perspective to the industry (see
our annual Index). In 1996 CNN created a weekly segment
on its media show, Biz Buzz, for Publishing Trends.
Featuring live interviews between the show's anchor and
an MPI principal, it focused on current publishing issues.
In 2000 and 2001 Inside.com, the highly regarded media
website, contracted Publishing Trends to contribute
regular columns on the book publishing industry.
In addition to in depth articles, subscribers have come
to expect these high quality standards that are included
in every issue:
