With the previously announced retirement of long-time Graywolf Press director and publisher Fiona McCrae, the Press has announced that Carmen Giménez will be joining in the role of executive director and publisher, beginning August 8th. She had been publisher of Noemi Press, which she and Evan Lavendar-Smith founded in 2002. 

At Simon & Schuster, Reggie Hui has joined as senior director of contracts. He was previously at W.W. NortonHeather Vieiro, formerly director of sales at North South Books Inc., has joined Simon & Schuster as national account manager. Lauren Acciari joins as national account manager for children’s sales. Lauren was previously merchandise sales manager at Independent Publishers Group. Erica Magrin also joins Simon & Schuster’s independent sales team as telesales account manager; she was formerly sales coordinator at Disney Worldwide Publishing. Margo Shickmanter has joined Avid Reader as executive editor. She was previously senior editor at Doubleday. Theresa Brown has joined Simon & Schuster as sales coordinator for digital and online sales. Susannah Lawrence, formerly director of publicity at Akashic Books, has joined as corporate communications associate. Jeff Wilson, vice president of contracts, is leaving after 36 years. 

At Hachette, Angela Jun has joined as art director; previously, she was self-employed. 

Grace Doyle and Carmen Johnson have both been appointed to the role of associate publishers at Amazon Publishing.

Jordan Moblo, formerly director of IP scouting and acquisitions at Netflix, has joined Universal Studio Group as executive vice president for creative acquisitions and IP management.

At Landscape Books and Disney Publishing Worldwide, Aliya King Neil has joined as executive editor; she was formerly senior editor at Gallery Books. Amanda Marie Schlesier has joined Disney Publishing Worldwide as account manager. Previously, she was acquisitions editor at Callisto Media

At Coffee House Press, Erika Stevens has left her position as editorial director. Abbie Phelps, formerly production editor at Wise Ink Creative Publishing, joins as production editor. Kristen Bledsoe joins as executive assistant. Mara Winke joins Coffee House Press as individual giving director.

At Insight Editions, Maddison Rhoa joins as digital publishing program coordinator and Matt Girard joins the team as art director for entertainment and film.

Kristen Namba Reed has joined Bess Press as assistant director of publishing.

After spending her entire career at Chronicle Books, children’s book editor Taylor Norman will join Holiday House as executive editor of Neal Porter Books on July 18.

Aliya King Neil, formerly senior editor at Gallery Books, is joining Landscape Books as executive editor.

Charles Watkinson, director of the University of Michigan Press, has stepped into the presidency of the Association of University Presses.

Lauren Morrow has joined Dutton, Plume, and Tiny Reparations Books as senior publicist. Molly Pieper is joining Putnam as associate director of marketing; she was previously an associate director of marketing at Simon & Schuster Element. David Zimmer, corporate communications manager at Penguin Random House retires on July 1st. 

Courtney Carbone, formerly editor at Scholastic, has rejoined Random House Children’s Books as editor. Also at Random House Children’s Books, Michele Campbell joins as assistant director of school marketing. Paula Baver, previously designer at Princeton Architectural Press, has joined Random House Children’s Books as designer.

Barnes & Noble Education announced that it has separated the roles of board chair and CEO, effective immediately. Lead independent director Vice Admiral John R. Ryan now serves as board chair, with Mike Huseby remaining as CEO.
