Bruce Nichols, longtime SVP and Publisher of Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, is joining Little, Brown as SVP and Publisher on May 4. He replaces Reagan Arthur, who became Sonny Mehta’s successor at Knopf. Stephanie Reddaway joins as Publicist, working primarily on the Spark and Voracious imprints; she had been Associate Publicist for the Random House Publishing Group. Liz Kossnar, formerly Editor at Simon & Schuster Books for Young Readers, joins Little, Brown Children’s as Senior Editor. Katie Boni joins Little, Brown Books for Young Readers as Publicist, moving over from her previous role as Associate Publicist at Bloomsbury. At Tommy Nelson, Harper’s Christian publishing division, Shannon Marchese has joined as VP, Publisher. She was most recently Executive Editor at WaterBrook & Multnomah and Convergent. Kyle Olund, formerly Executive Editor for Worthy Books and FaithWords, joins Thomas Nelson as Senior Acquisitions Editor for W Publishing and Michael Briggs joins as Senior Director of Backlist Publishing. Anna Bernard, lately Publicist at Bloomsbury, joins HarperCollins Children’s Publishing as Senior Publicist, while Lauren Levite, who was Associate Publicist at Tor/Forge, joins as Publicist.

Macmillan has implemented a job reduction and hiring freeze in response to the pandemic. Among the layoffs is Thomas Dunne, who began his eponymous imprint in 1986; no books will be added to the imprint after this year. Also departing as a result are Stephen Power, Executive Editor; William Vogan, Assistant Editor; and Lisa Bonvissuto, Assistant Editor.

Several job changes were made prior to the freeze. Hank Cochrane, formerly Director, Canada Sales for Macmillan, moved over to Picador as VP, Associate Publisher. Sharismar Rodriguez, previously Art Director at Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, joined as Senior Art Director for Feiwel and Friends, Holt, Roaring Brook Press, and FSG Children’s. Allison Carney joined Holt as Assistant Director of Marketing; she had been Marketing Manager at Riverhead, Viking, and Penguin. Maia Sacca-Schaeffer also joined Holt as Assistant Marketing Director, having worked previously as Digital Marketing & Sales Associate at Farrar, Straus & Giroux. At Macmillan Children’s, Kaitlin Loss, lately Rights Associate at HarperCollins Children’s, joined as Assistant Manager, Subsidiary Rights; Kathy Wielgosz, most recently Assistant Production Editor at Little, Brown, joined as Production Editor; and Ginny Dominguez, formerly Managing Editor at Abrams, joined as Studio Manager for Roaring Brook Press, FSG, Feiwel and Friends, and the Holt Children’s design team. And Mary Moates, who was previously Publicist at Random House, joined St. Martin’s Press/Wednesday Books as Publicity Manager.

Matt Holt joins BenBella as Editor in Chief of the new Matt Holt Books imprint. He was previously SVP, Executive Publisher at Wiley.

At Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, Andrea DeWerd joins as Senior Marketing Director. Most recently she was Senior Director of Marketing for Random House Christian and Crown Forum. Shara Alexander joins HMH as Associate Director of Publicity. She was previously Director of Publicity for Harlequin.

At Sourcebooks, Molly Waxman has joined as Senior Director of Marketing, Fiction. Most recently she was Director of Marketing at HarperCollins.

Christopher Moisan joins Algonquin Books as Creative Director, working out of the New York office. Previously he was Adult Trade Creative Director at Houghton Mifflin Harcourt. Gabrielle Greco joins Workman as Digital Sales Manager across all imprints. She was most recently Account Manager on the independent bookstores sales team at Simon & Schuster.

Andie Krawczyk, formerly Assistant Director of Library Marketing and Outreach at Candlewick Press, joins Chronicle Books as Children’s Marketing Director.

At ReaderLink, Charles McStravick joins as Art Director for the adult publishing team. At Simon & Schuster, Tricia Orlando joins as Telesales Accounts Manager. She had been working as Trade Sales Coordinator at W.W. Norton. Deeba Zargarpur has joined Simon & Schuster Children’s and Salaam Reads as Editor. Most recently she was Associate Editor at Glasstown Entertainment.

Mindy Rosenkrantz, previously Contracts Associate at Macmillan, joins Holiday House/Pixel+Ink as Contracts Manager.

At university presses…at Temple University Press, Shaun Vigil, formerly Executive Editor for Literature at Palgrave Macmillan, joins as Acquisitions Editor. Chloe Wong, lately Sales and Marketing Strategist at Berrett-Koehler, joins University of California Press as Product Marketing Manager; Teresa Iafolla also joins the press as Author Relations Manager. At Stanford University Press, Bridget Kinsella joined as Publicist. Previously she had been Publicity Manager at HarperOne Publishing Group.

At Abrams Children’s, Natali Cavanaugh joins as Marketing Coordinator. Previously she was Marketing Assistant at Little, Brown Children’s. Andrew Gibeley, formerly Assistant Publicist at William Morrow, Avon, Voyager, and Dey Street, joins Abrams as Publicist.

Alisa Trager joins Boyds Milles & Kane as Production Editor. She was previously Production and Editorial Coordinator at Humanoids.

Thames & Hudson now distributes Anthology Editions for all sales outside the US and Canada as of April 1.

HarperCollins has acquired Egmont Books UK and Egmont’s book business in Poland, as well as Schneiderbuch in Germany. Following the acquisition, Egmont Books UK will run as a distinct children’s division; Egmont Books Poland will become part of HarperCollins Poland; and Scheniderbuch will become part of HarperCollins Germany’s division. Egmont Publishing’s magazines are not included in the purchase.

Independent Publishers Group has added a number of publishers to its distribution programs. Its academic and professional distribution program now includes the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, April 1; Demeter Press, April 1; and the Water Environment Federation, May 1. Its Trafalgar Square Publishing division now includes Otter-Barry Books, July 15; Little Steps, June 1; Mount Orleans, June 1; Ad Lib, July 1; The Lilliput Press, July 1; Richardson Publishing Group, January 2021; and Fairlight Books, January 2021.

Candlewick Press and MIT Press announced plans to launch two collaborative imprints for children and teen readers, beginning in 2021. MIT Kids Press and MITeen Press will publish books on science and technology under the editorial direction of MIT Press and the creative, marketing, and sales direction of Candlewick.

Crooked Lane has a multiyear agreement with Dreamscape Media for audiobook production and distribution.
