Madeline McIntosh has become CEO of Penguin Random House USA. She had been President, Penguin Publishing GroupAllison Dobson takes over as President of Penguin Publishing Group.

Libby McGuire has been named SVP, Publisher of the Atria Publishing Group, beginning April 30. She has been Literary Agent at The Gernert Company since early 2017, before which she was EVP, Publisher of Ballantine Bantam Dell.

McGraw-Hill Education has named Dr. Nana Banerjee President and Chief Executive Officer, taking over from interim President and CEO Lloyd “Buzz” Waterhouse. Banerjee was previously Group President of Verisk Analytics.

Ken Brooks, Bill Kasdorf, Thad McIlroy, Bill Rosenblatt, and Bill Trippe have formed Publishing Technology Partners, a consulting partnership offering experience and expertise to clients in all segments of the publishing industry and to suppliers of technology solutions for publishing. Jaime Levine joins Houghton Mifflin Harcourt on April 30 as Senior Editor. She recently left her position as Publisher at Diversion Books.

Effective May 7, Semareh Al-Hillal will become Publisher at Groundwood Books, the Canadian children’s publisher that is now part of House of Anansi Press and distributed in the US by PGW. Al-Hillal is currently Associate President at Kids Can Press.

At Putnam, Michelle Howry will join as Executive Editor on May 7. Previously she was Executive Editor at Hachette. Lori Burke moves over to Clarkson Potter as Executive Director, Licensing & Strategic Publishing Partnerships; she was most recently Executive Director, License Acquisitions and Media at Penguin Children’s. And David Kopp, VP, Executive Editor of Convergent Books/Crown, will retire on May 1. As a result, Gary Jansen moves up to Executive Editor at Convergent and will continue as Director of Image.

Emily Nemens will become the new Editor of The Paris Review on June 1. She is presently Co-Editor at The Southern Review, where she has worked since 2013.

James Marcus is departing his role as Editor at Harper’s Magazine, and Ellen Rosenbush has been named Editorial Director.

Samantha Schutz joins Little, Brown Children’s as Publishing Director, Brand, Licensed, and Tie-In Publishing. She was most recently Associate Publisher, Licensing at Scholastic. At Little, Brown, Juliana Horbachevsky joins as Publicity Manager, moving over from her previous role as Senior Publicist at Crown Publishing Group.

Terri Ruffino joins the art department at Workman as Director, Special Projects. She had been working there freelance after serving as Director of Graphics at Macy’s.

At A Public Space, Lauren Cerand joins as Marketing and Development Director.

Matt Carlini joins Javelin as Literary Agent and Foreign Rights Director. He was most recently Assistant Editor at Little, Brown.

At Sourcebooks, Kavita Jaswal has joined as Digital Marketing Manager, moving over from her previous position as Marketing Manager at Pearson.

At Sounds True, Diana Ventimiglia has joined as Acquisitions Editor. Previously she was Editor at North Star Way.

Tayler Lord has joined Princeton University Press as Publicist. Previously she was Publicist at the University of Nebraska Press.

 

PROMOTIONS

At Random House Children’s, Hanna Lee has been promoted to Senior Manager, Digital Marketing, and Casey Moses has been promoted to Junior Designer. At Doubleday, Emma Joss is now Associate Publicist.

Jay Amond has been promoted to President and CEO at the Nebraska Book Company, succeeding Rick Bunka.

At Workman, Page Edmunds has been promoted to Executive Associate Publisher and Jodi Weiss has been promoted to Executive Director, Gift and Mass Merchant Sales. In addition, Megan Nicolay and Maisie Tivnan have both been named Executive Editor; Kylie McDonald is now Senior Editor, Director of Cookbooks; and Danny Cooper and Rachael Mt. Pleasant both become Editor. Liz Hunter is now Associate Director, Field Sales, while Angela Campbell becomes Director of Sales Operations and JT Green becomes Sales Analyst. At Artisan Books, Theresa Collier has been promoted to Senior Manager, Publicity and Marketing.

Megan Fishmann has been promoted to Associate Publisher and Senior Director of Publicity for Catapult, Counterpoint, and Soft Skull Press.

At Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, Lori Glazer has been promoted to SVP, Executive Director of Publicity and Becky Saikia-Wilson has been promoted to SVP, Trade Associate Publisher. Colleen Murphy has been promoted to VP, Special Markets, Mass Market Sales, and Product Development. Ed Spade moves up to Director, Digital Sales, Strategy and Business Development. James Phirman is now National Accounts Director, Mass Market. Candace Finn becomes Associate Director, Subsidiary Rights. Liz Anderson has been promoted to Senior Marketing Manager, and Lisa McAuliffe becomes Marketing Associate. Nicole Angeloro, Editor at HMH, will assume the additional responsibilities of Editorial Manager at Mariner Books. Lyndsay Calusine becomes Lead Designer, Michelle Triant is now Publicity Manager, and Jaclyn Sassa becomes Associate Sales Representative. At Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Children’s, Alia Almeida is now Marketing Manager.

Pat Eisemann has been promoted to Executive Director of Publicity at Holt.

At Sourcebooks, Jillian Rahn has been promoted to Associate Art Director. Allison Sundstrom moves up to Senior Designer, Sara Hartman-Seeskin becomes Senior Sales Manager, Rights and Exports, and Stephanie Graham moves up to Marketing Specialist. MJ Johnston is now Assistant Editor of both Sourcebooks and Sourcebooks Landmark.

At DeFiore and Company, Gabbie Piraino has been promoted to Foreign Rights Manager.

Jessica Tribble has been promoted to Senior Editor at Thomas & Mercer and Alison Dasho has been promoted to the same position at Montlake Romance.

At Soho Press, Steven Tran has been promoted to Sales Associate.

On June 1, Baker & Taylor Publishing Services will add three client publishers: ECW Press, Nomad Press, and MVP Kids. In addition, as of this January, BTPS also offers worldwide sales and distribution for The Innovation Press and BMH Books.

Also effective June 1, IPG’s Trafalgar Square Publishing will distribute print books by Lion Hudson in the US and Canada, and ebooks worldwide.

Diamond Comic Distributors will be the exclusive worldwide distributor for Starburns Industries’ new publishing division, SBI Press, in the comic book specialty market, book market, and hobby games market.

Rachel Hecht Children’s Scouting has been appointed scout for Beijing Yutian Hanfeng in China.

Wanda Brown is the new President-Elect of the American Library Association. Brown is Director of Library Services at the C.G. O’Kelly Library at Winston-Salem University.

The Authors Guild has named Tom Gauld their inaugural Cartoon Laureate.
