Effective December 4, Brian Napack will join Wiley as President and CEO. He replaces Interim CEO Mark Allin, who resigned in May. Napack has been Senior Advisor for Providence Equity Partners since 2012 and was President of Macmillan from 2006 to 2012.

David Levin is leaving his position as CEO of McGraw-Hill Education. Lloyd “Buzz” Waterhouse will return to the company as Interim President and CEO; he had previously served as President and CEO from 2012 to 2014.

At the National Book Foundation, Beth Harrison joins as Deputy Director. She was most recently Assistant Executive Director, Development and External Relations at the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers.

At Putnam, Margo Lipschultz will join as Executive Editor on October 23. She was previously Senior Editor at Harlequin. Warren Bass will join Penguin Press as Executive Editor on November 13, and is presently Senior Editor for the Wall Street Journal’s weekend review section. Julie Ertl has joined Vintage/Anchor as Senior Publicist, moving over from her previous role as Publicity Assistant at Little, Brown and Company. Chris Russell has left his position as Associate Editor at Viking to join Axios as Expert Voices Editor. At Random House Children’s, Courtney Paganelli joins as Assistant Managing Editor. She was previously Editorial Assistant at Pearson. Annie Gardner has joined as Associate Email Marketing Manager. She was previously Senior Demand Generation Coordinator at 24Seven.

In agency news…Elianna Kan is now Affiliate Agent at Regal Hoffmann & Associates, with a special focus on Spanish-language titles. She previously worked freelance as an editor and translator. Riddhi Parekh has joined Laura Dail Literary Agency as International Rights Manager and Agent. Most recently, she was Children’s Book Scout at Franklin & Siegal Associates.

Christi (Sheehan) Hagemann joins Workman Publishing as Publicist. She was previously Associate Publicist at DK. Neil Hiremath, most recently an operations, finance, and sales consultant for publishing and media startups, is now Manager of Digital Operations. SarahMay Harel has joined as Assistant, Digital & Web Operations.

Karen Corvello has joined the University Press Sales Associates consortium as Northeast Sales Rep for MIT Press, Princeton University Press, and Yale University Press. She was most recently Regional Manager, New England and upstate New York, for Baker & Taylor.

 

PROMOTIONS

At Kensington Publishing Corporation, Mike Rosamilia has been promoted to SVP, Finance and CFO; Lynn Cully to VP, Publisher; and Adam Zacharius to VP, General Manager.

Michael Eisenberg has been promoted to VP, Associate Publisher at the Highlights Retail Group.

Marian Lizzi has been promoted to VP, Editor-in-Chief at TarcherPerigee.

Sue Tarsky has been promoted to Publishing Director at Albert Whitman, and Annette Hobbs Magier is now Director of Sales & Marketing. In addition, Ellen Kokontis has been promoted to Associate Art Director, Morgan Avery to Associate Graphic Designer, and Caity Anast to Metadata and Contracts Supervisor.

At agencies…Sarah Younger has been promoted to Senior Agent at Nancy Yost Literary Agency. At The Bright Agency, Anne Moore Armstrong has been promoted to Senior Trade Agent and James Burns has been promoted to Managing Agent.

At Touchstone, Matthew Benjamin has been promoted to Executive Editor and Lara Blackman has been promoted to Assistant Editor. Additionally, Shida Carr is now Associate Director of Publicity and Jessica Roth is now Assistant Director of Publicity.  At Atria, Stephanie Mendoza has been promoted to Senior Publicist and Rachel Brenner to Associate Publicist, while Melanie Iglesias Pérez, Loan Le, and Haley Weaver have each been promoted to Assistant Editor. Tasha Hilton is now Senior Digital Marketing Manager and Jackie Jou is now Assistant Marketing Director. Brooke Csuka is now Senior Publicist at Algonquin and Algonquin Children’s. At Simon & Schuster, Stuart Roberts has been promoted to Associate Editor and Zachary Knoll to Assistant Editor. Lara Jones has been promoted to Assistant Editor at Emily Bestler Books.

Jennifer Heddle is now Executive Editor at Disney/Lucasfilm Publishing.

At Chronicle Books, Deanne Katz has been promoted to Associate Editor, Food and Lifestyle.

At F+W Media, Laura Wooffitt has been promoted to Sales and Marketing Manager.

William Morris Endeavor now represents Dutch publisher Lebowski for publishing, film, and TV rights outside of Holland.

Sisters in Crime is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year and has announced the publication of its 2017 Publishing Summit Report. This report serves as the first written history of the organization, as well as documentation of its initiatives.
