Allison Devlin will join Time Inc. Books on May 4th as Associate Publisher.  She was most recently Marketing Director and Acting Publisher at Running PressSusan Weinberg will serve as Acting Publisher of Running Press on an interim basis when Devlin leaves.

Simon Tasker has joined Readerlink as VP Publisher juvenile proprietary and Silver Dolphin, in its Printers Row Publishing Group. He was most recently VP, Product Development at Disney Publishing Worldwide.

Mary Faria is now VP, Mass Merchandising Sales at Perseus Books Group. She was previously Director of Sales at Becker and Mayer.

Peter Brantley will become Director of Online Strategy at University of California, Davis, University Library.  He was Director of Digital Library Applications at the New York Public Library.

At university presses: David Goldberg will join MIT Press as Sales Manager in May.  Previously, he was Sales and Marketing Director at David R. Godine, Publisher. . . Scot Kuehn is now Associate Director and CFO at Princeton University Press. Formerly, he was CFO at Mars International. . . Clay Farr is now Executive Director of Publishing Services for University of North Carolina Press affiliate Longleaf PressLisa Stallings has also joined Longleaf as Editorial, Design, and Production Manager.  Farr was previously Associate Editor at Basic Books and Stallings was most recently a Production Consultant.

Dallas Middaugh is now Head of Brand and Community at anime digital platform Crunchyroll.  He was Senior Director at Penguin Random House Publisher Services.

Michael Yeon joined Open Road Integrated Media as VP, Marketing.  He was previously VP, Marketing at Grooveshark.

Christina Hu is now Associate Marketing Director at Blue Rider Press. Formerly, she was Senior Marketing Manager at Atavist Books.

Gabrielle Gantz joined Palgrave as Associate Director of Publicity. She was previously Director of Publicity at McSweeney’s.

Elias Altman joined Zachary Shuster Harmsworth as Agent. He was previously Senior Editor at Lapham’s Quarterly.

In children’s, Morgan Parker joined Little A as Editor, acquiring fiction and poetry. Formerly, she was Education Director at the Museum of Contemporary African Diasporan Arts (MoCADA) and Poetry Editor of Coconut Magazine and The Offing. . . Siena Koncsol is now Publicity Manager at Harlequin Teen. She was Publicist at S&S Children’s.

Liz Ridout joined Booktrack as Chief Marketing Officer.  Previously, she was VP, Marketing at Kobo.  Cameron Drew is now VP, Publishing.  He formerly was Head of Content at BitLit and Director of Global Content Acquisition at Kobo.

Mia Amato joined Start Publishing as Marketing Director, where she will oversee the print and digital marketing for the Cleis Press and Viva Editions imprints.  She was previously Commercial Manager, Digital at Parragon.

Kait Neese is now Midwest Account Manager at Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.  She was most recently VP of Publish on Demand Global and Director of Best Selling Books Rights Agency.

Bridget Kinsella joined New Harbinger Publications as Publicist.  Previously, she was a book industry Journalist for several publications.

Jon M. Sweeney will join Catholic multimedia and book publisher Franciscan Media in August as Editorial Director, Franciscan Media Books.  Formerly, he was Editor-in-Chief and Publisher at Paraclete Press.

Kevin Watt joined Business Development Director at Kortext.  He was previously Head of Sales for the UK, Ireland, Northern Europe, and South Africa at McGraw-Hill Education.

BookBrunch Co-Founder Liz Thomson has left the company to pursue musical interests.

PROMOTIONS

Ken Michaels has been named CEO of Macmillan Higher Education and Macmillan New Ventures, beginning after the merger of Macmillan Science and Education and Springer Science.  He is currently Global COO of Macmillan Science and Education.  The merged Macmillan-Springer entity will be headed by CEO Derk Haank, COO, Martin Moss, CFO Ulrich Vest, and Chief Science Officer Annette Thomas.  Haank, Moss, and Vest all held those same titles at Springer.  Thomas was CEO at Macmillan.

At Taunton Press, the interim President Dan McCarthy has been named standing CEO.

Wendy Sheanin was promoted to VP, Director of Marketing at Simon & SchusterJoe Monti was promoted to Editorial Director of Saga Press. Jennifer Smith was promoted to VP, Director of Publicity at Howard Books. At ScribnerKate Lloyd was promoted to Deputy Director of Publicity and Alexis Johnson to Associate Publicist.

At HMH Books for Young Readers, Julia Richardson was promoted to VP, Editorial Director, Paperbacks, Sheila Smallwood to VP, Creative Director, Donna McCarthy to Executive Director of Production, Cara Lewellyn to Associate Art Director, Anne Hoppe to VP, Associate Publisher, Senior Executive Editor of the Clarion Books imprint, and Opal Roengchai to Designer. Houghton Mifflin Harcourt promoted Kim Kiefer to Senior Production Coordinator, Candace Finn to Senior Manager, Subsidiary Rights, Jessica Gilo to Culinary Marketing Manager, and Liz Anderson to Social Media Manager.

Monica Shah was promoted to Director of Special Markets at Abrams. Shah is replacing Jody Mosley, who will join Abrams Books for Young Readers as Associate Publisher at the beginning of May. Chris Blank was promoted to Director of Online Marketing Operations.

DULY NOTED

There will be a memorial service for Literary Agent Loretta Barrett, who died on October 4th, in Manhattan on May 7th at 5:30pm at St. Peter’s Church.  People are encouraged to arrive any time after 4:30pm.  In lieu of flowers, Loretta wished for contributions to be made to Reading is Fundamental (.org), for whom she volunteered as a board member for 40 years.

Mango Media launched its new imprint AP Editions, in which they team up with The Associated Press to bring “unbiased analysis to a new line of books, eBooks and Smart eBooks.”

IN MEMORIAM

The Booker Prize Foundation announced the death of its Literary Director Ion Trewin, who died on April 8th at the age of 71.  A funeral service was held in London on April 23rd.

Jonathan Lanman, longtime children’s book editor and former VP, Editorial Director at Atheneum Books for Young Reader, died on April 19th.  He was 62.
